Navigating Project Management Career in the AI Era:

A Functional Consultant’s Perspective

Ravinder Kaur Ahluwalia

Summary:
Project Management and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) consulting are entering a period of rapid transformation. The pace of change, driven by AI, industry disruption, and evolving client expectations, demands more from today’s professionals than technical skill alone.
Today’s decisions have direct impact on careers, business outcomes, and organizational resilience. With 20+ years across public and private sectors as a Functional IT Consultant, project manager, and career coach, I have seen how adaptability and continuous learning shape success. The most effective leaders now combine structured methodologies with a growth mindset and a willingness to reskill.
Whether facing a major payroll system overhaul, leading a system migration, or navigating workforce uncertainty, leaders succeed through structured execution, clear stakeholder communication, and steady team leadership. AI accelerates this shift by automating routine work, so professionals can focus on strategy and value delivery. Those who pair deep functional expertise with AI literacy will lead the next wave of transformation.
This session draws from my own career journey, blending practical frameworks and lessons learned on the front lines of ERP/HCM and digital transformation projects. You’ll walk away with actionable strategies for adapting, reskilling, and building influence as a change leader in the age of AI.
